Australian Airports Association Corporate Project of the Year 2014

The AAA Airport Industry Awards were recently held on the Gold Coast and Airbiz went home victorious, receiving the Corporate Project of the Year Award for the Brisbane Airport Current and Future Flight Path and Noise Information Booklet.

In accordance with the Airports Act, every five years Brisbane Airport reviews and updates its Master Plan.

Airbiz was engaged by BrisbaneĀ Airport Corporation (BAC) to prepare aircraft noise projections in the form of the Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) and alternate metrics such as N70 contours as recommended by the National Airports Safeguarding Advisory Group (NASAG). The Airbiz scope included preparing a range of projected schedules from annual aircraft movement forecast scenarios and runway mode usage scenarios for noise modelling to produce various contours and metrics.

As well as regular stakeholder briefings on the methodology and outcomes, a comprehensive graphical 85 page booklet of noise information (in printed and electronic forms) was produced for stakeholder and community consultation. With BAC committed to delivery of a New Parallel Runway (NPR) to increase airfield capacity and cope with demand, the Master Plan update and associated noise information was a key element and the airport continued to be an international airport industry leader in highly transparent community consultation and communication.

The result is recognized as setting a new benchmark in comprehensive and transparent noise information and communication. During the development process and parallel engagement the methodology was proven to also be transparent and robust. A highly complex interaction of assumptions and calculation was made clear to a non-technical stakeholder audience, adding to the overall credibility of the process and result.
