International Facilities Project

As part of Calgary Airport’s largest-ever major expansion project, the Calgary Airport Authority commissioned a brand-new international terminal. The new five-story International and Transborder terminal facility, which was more than double the size of the existing building, featured a 48,100m² check-in hall, more than 50 retail shops and restaurants, and a four-star hotel. The initial development comprised 12 new MARS gates.

Airbiz was lead terminal and airside designer for this new facility.  This included terminal functional planning, operation and strategy, detailed apron design, aircraft parking, linemarking, terminal interface, fixed link and aerobridge design.

Our team was involved in the entire process, from conception through to implementation.  Following completion of the terminal project, we prepared an Airside Operations Methodology Report (AOMR) and Terminal Operations Methodology Report (TOMR) to ensure that all processes would run smoothly after opening.
