In 2022, Airbiz and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) undertook a Planning Study commissioned as the Terminal 3 (T3) New North Concourse (NNC) Development Program. The study had a planning horizon of 15 years, concluding in 2037. It was developed to investigate the requirements for the newest concourse on T3 and its impact on the existing site and the overall T3 facility.
The project culminated in a Project Definition Report (PDR) and will form the programming/planning concept which will define the basis of design and construction efforts.
Four key goals of the PDR were:
- The optimal organization of the NNC apron & terminal, and its relationship to the overall T3 facility and entire Sky Harbor complex both in the current configuration and the anticipated future developments,
- A sufficiently detailed and aeronautically driven pathway of airfield and terminal development to meet future demand horizons,
- A plan for the development of these facilities that meets PHX planning principles and considers key stakeholder interests and aspirations,
- A pathway for the project to meet future demand at an affordable basis.
PHX is now in the design phase of this project.
