Master Planning

Airbiz has been the principal aviation and airport planning consultant in the preparation of Sydney Airport’s 2009, 2013 and current 2018 master plans.  Our team developed a new strategic vision that increased capacity up to 65 million passengers per year.

One key outcome of these plans was the establishment of combined international and domestic precincts on both sides of the airport, which significantly increased capacity as well as terminal and apron efficiency.

Specific tasks include demand analysis, strategic planning and conceptual layouts for the airfield and the terminal precincts, landside interfaces with ground transport airfield capacity modelling and aircraft noise impact studies, contours, alternative metrics and stakeholder and community engagement.  We have also addressed air traffic management and air traffic control issues, including the impacts of new technologies.
