New Parallel Runway Planning

Brisbane Airport’s 3.3km, $1.3 billion New Parallel Runway (NPR) is the biggest construction project in all of Australia.  It is expected to not only double the airport’s previous capacity but bring an additional $5 billion in benefit to the region.

Airbiz set out the full geometric planning of the NPR for Code F aircraft as well as:

  • Taxiways & Roads
  • Fencing
  • Airfield lighting
  • ALERS & ARFFS.

Through the lifecycle of the project, we supported the BAC design team with further elements such as:

  • Airfield planning
  • Geometric and linemarking design
  • Technical advice on runway operational planning
  • Airfield simulation, conceptual and operational models

The New Parallel Runway opened in July 2020.
