Project LIFT

Airbiz provided terminal planning and analytics & modelling support for Gold Coast Airport’s (OOL) terminal expansion. Scope included demand and spatial analysis, functional terminal planning, design and development, and passenger simulation, assisting with operational strategies, stakeholder engagement and staging implementation.

The development includes expanding the existing T1 terminal to cater for five additional Code E aircraft parking stands, two of which will have aerobridge access, a new multi-level international terminal and processing facilities, as well as the redevelopment of the existing terminal to cater for increased domestic demand. It is divided into separate stages to allow continual airport operation during construction.

Airbiz has been involved since the early conceptual design stage in 2014 and remains on the project through detail design and construction on behalf of GCAL as Design Governance. The new international terminal expansion includes security, emigration, transfer facilities, international departure lounge and retail offerings, immigration, a secondary examination area and baggage reclaim facilities as well as swing gate operations to allow OOL to flex between domestic and international peaks.
